"I have said that Texas is a state of mind, but I think it is more than that. It is a mystique closely approximating a religion. And this is true to the extent that people either passionately love Texas or passionately hate it and, as in other religions, few people dare to inspect it for fear of losing their bearings in mystery or paradox. But I think there will be little quarrel with my feeling that Texas is one thing. For all its enormous range of space, climate, and physical appearance, and for all the internal squabbles, contentions, and strivings, Texas has a tight cohesiveness perhaps stronger than any other section of America. Rich, poor, Panhandle, Gulf, city, country, Texas is the obsession, the proper study and the passionate possession of all Texans."
-John Steinbeck
Interesting quote a fellow Texan shared with me. I wouldn't call it an "obsession" for me personally, but "passionate possession" could be accurate. All I know is I sure am looking forward to crossing the good ol' Red River Sunday afternoon.

vylpeigSee you soon!
Texas must be passionately cared for. Were it not for that, how could anyone justify living in this snake/spider/chigger/flea/poison ivy infested wasteland of oppresive heat and humidity?
Passionately love it vs. passionately hate it. Well, I wouldn't say I passionately HATE it... After all, it does hold several of my favorite people in it's borders.
Hope everything is going well now that you're back. But don't you think next summer you should come stay in MY basement and work some awesome job?
